Font Text help PLEASE!!!

Post by Cool Metal Works »

I have a customer that is wanting a sign ASAP. He has one already made that I am using as a base design. I have the brand drawn up and am now working on the letters. The font is Lucida Handwriting and on the original sign it is Italic and I think Bold. I also need the thickness of the letters to be 2 - 2.5 in thick. I am not finding anything in Corel that will allow me to make this font bold or italic much less thicken my letter (without making them bigger than 8.5" x 33.5") What can I do to duplicate the original sign? How do I get my text like I need it? I have even tried writing it in Word Bold, Italic and it wont transfer. His sign is on his website crownranchlp.com Its a Crown looking circle with Crown Ranch added to the front of it mounted to a rock. If you can't see the page or find the rock let me know I have a pic on my phone I can try to send you. I REALLY NEED HELP CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? :( :?

This may not be the text book way or the quickest but what I've done for this type of job is to write it out in the required font and then use the outline tool to create a thick outline in black, fill the text in the same black and export as a bitmap image. Import this image and do an outline trace and you have a thickened version if the text, now to make it italic click the image a second time and drag the top arrows sideways until you have the desired amount of angle on the word and export as dxf.

Hope that helps

After going the long way around  to get the order out, I tried Gamelord's idea and low and be hold it worked to make the text fatter. Thanks bud!!! I looked around a bit more and was able to make it Italic too with the help of effects and skew. What took me 3 to 4 hrs to do before I was able to do in a matter of a few minutes. Thank for your help. One of these days I'll figure out the Corel Program and how to Design stuff. Till then I'll keep asking questions. :D

for reference, when you second click a selection with the pick tool, it puts rotation handles on the selection box corners, and skew handles in the middle of the selection box borders, you can drag those to skew the selection
