Grinding Stone

I bought a second hand 9" grinder from an old timer who said he had it forever and never took this stone off it. I tried it out and I absolutely love it. Its heavier than heck but if theres any slag it stands no chance with this beast as it gets rid of slag 5x faster than any of my other grinders do including the big ones. This thing outperforms any grinding wheel/disc I have ever used by a long shot. I will use this stone up but I want to buy more of them although I have never seen one for sale in any of the shops I frequent. Do any of you good folks know where a person can buy these stones? I will attach a picture of it. Im sure they cost a small fortune.

those cupped grinding wheels are great. I used them all the time back when i was making bollards. Cuts the welds off in no time. Just be sure to inspect it for cracks every so often. I had one come apart @ 7000rpm. Theres a dent in my door thats easily 1" deep. The door was 20 feet away...

Better the door than your body! Holy crap I knew it would be alot but I didnt think they would cost that much! Ill still get one though but ouch.. Thanks for that website I greatly appreciate it.

Oh its not near as bad as I thought. Its $140 roughly for a pack of 6 stones, I thought at first that was for one.

Do you have the 36 grit discs and backer that Steel FX sells? I bought those for my 4-1/2" grinder and am quite impressed with the way it removes slag and welds.
Too bad you can't mix up grits with the 6 stone order, I would be tempted to try some. Those things scare me though.

My air dryer went down on me a few weeks back and since then my slag has gotten 3 or 4 times worse despite having two inline filters, bowl type and toilet paper type. I havent tried fx's but whats different about this heavy stone is just the weight of it makes it so I just have to float it across the top and I dont have to push down into the slag at all like I might with the lighter wheels. Half the time long chunks of slag goe flying off soon as the stone touches the end of it, or even before it touches it. But a couple weeks ago when I got hit in the unmentionables by that rogue grinding wheel that wheel was light, to get hit there by a broken chunk of stone that weighs half a pound or whatever could put a guy out of commission for a good spell. Ill have to try out fx's. What I really need to do is fix my air dryer, or get a new one. Speaking of that has anyone on here tried out the AirMac dryer that is advertised on this web site?

A word of caution about the Macair (Air Mac) drier advertised on this site...Plasmaspider says they ship UPS, but the manufacturer says they only ship freight. Why freight for an object weighing 70 pounds and relatively small, who knows?

I just bought the MacAir dryer from on here and it works great with my Hypertherm 45 and mine did come on UPS.

The Macair dryers advertised on this site DO ship with UPS.

In the past they did not but have been for some time now.

The manufacturer says otherwise, but it doesn't matter as long as you receive it undamaged. I really don't care if it comes by way of a donkey.

the grinding stones i have seen here are also used for grinding concrete

they are used for cleaning up sloppy formwork etc
they are quite reasonable from a concrete supply place
in Canada national concrete accesories in the states not sure
united rentals sells them here any construction supply
they are the same compisition for either concrete or steel
