Make your own. There is a post and pictures on the forum showing how. Basically you use the refrigerator that you keep the beer in that's already in the shop. Use the search function and enter "homemade air drier" or something similar. And you can still keep the beer in there.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but.....I have an air dryer and an old air tank. My question is what would be the best way to plumb it.

Ex.
From air compressor to: A) old air tank B)air dryer inlet C) plasma

from air compressor to: A) air dryer inlet B) old air tank C) plasma

I guess the tradeoff is between giving the air a place to drop some more moisture before going into the dryer versus having a tank after the dryer to minimize pressure drop at the plasma.

hypertherm1250 min air use 6.7scfm Johnson controls A-4400 rated at 12 scfm

You may have to define your criteria for "best" air dryer.

-What plasma system....or what input pressure and flow rate?
-Where do you live? Are you in an area with year round high humidity....or seasonal humidity?
-Are you planning to use this dry air for other tools and equipment as well?
-Is price an issue?
-How much will the plasma be used? (hobby....1 shift of production....heavy production involving more than one shift)

In many cases.....if you are just a hobby class user and live in a low humidity region....then all you need is a simple filter with a drain valve, as well as a schedule that allows you to drain your compressor tank daily. In other cases....you may need an industrial refrigerated dryer with moisture separators and particulate filters.

More detail of what you are doing will help!

Hi Jim
Thanks for the reply
I am using a Hypertherm 1000 with a machine torch Flow I try to keep around 100 psi
there are days we get hidgh humidity and seasonal humidity If you have every lived in South Dakota ;)
Dryer is only going to be used on the cnc plasma Price
Some day I cut two days straight true some days a couply parts
The biggest problem I think there is is the air compresser is in the heated part of the shop
and when I cut I open all the doors and some times it gets pretty cold in winter
Thank you bwshop

I was talking to a local supplier and he suggested using plumbed nitrogen into the air to dry it right before.....has anyone heard of this?
