When mirror I get duplicate lines

Post by Sampson Jones »

When I mirror an object I now have two complete lines on top of each other. Is combine the best way to get only one cut line?

before X5, if you hit apply (and don't hit apply-to-duplicate) it should not create a duplicate

in X5, if number-of-copies is not set to zero, then it will mirror that many copies

mirror doesn't usually create lines-on-top-of-other-lines, except when the object is perfectly symmetrical, in which case duplicate (hit the plus key) works better

combine does not work on lines on top of lines, you almost have to avoid having lines on top of lines

I think the most common cause of lines on top of lines is through weld, trim, or intersect commands with preserve-source and or preserve-destination checked

need more details to know for sure.....

In the shaping docker, weld, trim, intersect, and boundary have the option to leave (preserve) the source and or target object(s)

if either option is checked under leave-original then it will leave a copy of that object under the result

if neither option is checked, the original objects get replaced by the result

the setting applies to all instances of those shaping commands, so any trim button or hot-key will use the settings from the trim docker window,

but, to actually change the setting, you must use the command button in the shaping docker window, if you change one of the options then use some other button or hot-key other than the command button on the docker, then the settings won't be set

the settings reset to default each time corel is restarted

some shaping command button variations (like weld-all-selected) don't use those settings
