Lincoln torchmate new to me

Post by rogeraustin »

Just bought a Lincoln Torchmate growth series 4x4 table at a school auction that looks like it was barely used judging by the overall appearance of the table. I only gave $500 for this table I hear a lot of complaints about the Growth series, torch mate, but for $500 what have I got to lose? I have a hypertherm power max 85 that I’ve had for about five years. The table has a accumove 2 controller and a machine torch for a hypertherm 45 already on it. Any help on connecting the connecting hypertherm 85 to the table would be appreciated. I just picked up the table yesterday and haven’t really started other than placing it in the building where I’m going to use it and straightening out all the wires that were stacked on top of the table. Don’t really know what I’m going to need it for just want to get it running in case I want to make so brackets or something. I’m 70 years old and just playing around. Talked to one of the teachers that had worked on in the past and was told it did work when he had worked on it he was a tech. He said that they had had several different teachers over the course of a few years and every time a new teacher came so I’ve had interest in it and some of them didn’t so it’s been left unattended for a few years. They bought a larger table and transferred the plasma 45 that came with it to the new table so where I am hey I figured the torch on it was worth the bad as much as I gave for the table.

Start the table and motors etc and have eveything powered up before you fire up the computer and see if it recognizes it at that point. Sometimes the order things are done matters.

Try a new USB cable between the controller box and your computer, Like posted above start the controller first prior to opening the TM software. Follow the onscreen prompts, if your controller box is off when starting the software it will default the program to "Controller Offline" this status can be switched under the "controller tab".

The plasma unit itself in conjunction with a machine torch will require a CPC port installed on the plasma unit and another CPC connector with leads to the CNJC control box similar to this one (depending on what options you need) Not sure if the 45 machine torch will work on the 85 (if it plugs in then it probable will):

These can be made for a fraction of that cost with parts from DIGIKey (part numbers are on this site)

Go make the sparks fly...
