10 years ago I started out with flat strap cut to length then progressed to a small notch to hold the work above the dross that would appear on the slats with use. This was a notable upgrade in performance, less cuts on the slats and prolonged cleaning cycles. Upon construction of the 6x12 table I raised them even more as I knew the 105 amp torch would would create even more dross and have a longer cutting flame.
It was time to replace slats on the 2x2 so I opted to go with the sharks tooth Design as I call them:
Top slat intermediate design / bottom slat new reversible design:
Comparison of the two in the table:
I use Laundry Soda (can ya tell

A small amount of anti-seize was applied to the slat ends prior to install:
Final product / reversible slats is 2x the bang for the same $:
full water tray / this is the advantage of wet cutting all of that milkshake is not in the lungs. Todays project is to drain the swamp and do laundry:
One thing I have noticed with the use of laundry Soda and the Sharks Tooth Design Slats is the valley of the tooth gets a layer of white crust that along with increased coverage of water less dross is welded to the slat. This results in less cleaning and longer lasting slats.
