Plasma table will run the path, but not engage the torch.

Post by BJarrett »

I’ve got my table set up and hooked to my computer, and all the cut paths are ready, but when I go to cut it will not engage the torch. If I bypass the controller and plug in the dummy end that allows the torch to cut without the table it does. Is there something wrong with the tables controller?

Do you get no motion at all with the torch or does the torch travel to the start point and then no motion beyond that?

This is your FIRST post. You need to provide some information, in order for anyone to be truly helpful.

Where are you located? What brand of plasma TABLE do you own? Which plasma cutting machine are you using? What SOFTWARE are you running?

It SOUNDS like you are running a PlasmaCam table, but I cannot be sure from your original post.

Lots of stuff can keep a torch form firing. If its a hand torch and a Hypertherm you cannot fire it from the CNC connector with a hand torch attached. .
You should be able to test the torch fire at the cable by shorting the fire pins (2 pins) together to fire the torch. If it does than the problem is in the controller . If it doe snot its probably locked out .

With no information about the Plasma cutter , the controls or if its ever worked before that is about all the detail we can provide.

What kind of table, software, and plasma cutter do you have?

It will follow the cut path, but wont engage the torch. If I unplug the communication cord from the plasma cutter and table control panel, and use the by pass plug, it will engage then

I am located in Utah, using the PlasmaCAM model DHC table; with the thermal dynamics torch. Using the PlasmaCam program on windows.
