Correct Plasma Shade
Never really gave it much thought till today, so I thought I'd ask cuz I'm sure there are others doing it too...I catch myself many times grabbing my 5 shade cutting glasses to watch my cuts; I try to keep the arc under the torch head by leaning forward, but many times catch direct arcs in the kerf or curves--I at least thought to try to keep my exposure down cuz I kinda question the 5 shade. Is my hunch right? is a 5 shade enough eye pro tection.

Re: Correct Plasma Shade
Brians info is correct.....the shade required is based on the amperage of the plasma systems. It is also a good idea to cover exposed skin as well....you are subjecting yourself to some pretty intense UV rays when welding and plasma cutting.
