need help with a logo

Post by drosenoble »

I'm wondering how I would go about taking the shadows out of this logo in order to get just the outline.

That seems extremely easy to DRAW by hand. An eight point star is just a lot of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.

It took no time at all. A simple matter of scaling one drawing three times.

Thanks Joe,
How did you do it? I’m somewhat new to this. I have a bunch of files mostly vintage cars. I’m willing to share. Interested in any particular ones?

I don't know. I am not making anything at the moment. Vintage cars are cool, but I am really drifting into lasers and 3D printers now. Plasma cutting has left me wanting.

Are these YOUR vintage car designs, or are you just sharing copies of files you have collected?

I drew it, using DesignEdge software.

What cad drawing program do you normally use? This could be drawn from scratch, hand traced, or possibly auto traced. For auto trace, I like Inkscape. For drawing from scratch or hand tracing, Inkscape or one of the other drawing programs will work. Let me know which program you are using and I will see if I can create step-by-step instructions for you.

Drosenoble - here is an example of what it might look like using Inkscape to do a simple manual trace. Inkscape is a free program, and very useful if you wish to learn to do these sorts of things yourself. Let me know if you have any questions about the process.

There are free online background removal programs that will get rid of the shadows and other background. Here is one of them.

This is what it would look like using this program, and then Paint.net to adjust the brightness and contrast.
