I have watched that video a couple times
I "think" I can sketch the base of the ring and add the "windows' for where the skull or other dxf will go
extrude it,
then bring in the dxf to it, locate it where I want, and extrude it
then join the two?

I don't understand what your specific question is. Are you creating your cut paths and g-code with Fusion 360?

Follow the instructions in the video posted by Plasmanewbie to "weld/union" your skull body to your main body (once you have extruded the skull).

I assume you are trying to do something like this. I don't know what you mean by moving the mouse and it changing colors.

Good morning David
That is exactly what I am trying to do
I followed the video
did join
and the deer head was above the plate but attached
I am sure I am missing one small step that I cant figure out
I did it once with the punisher the logo but i cant seem to duplicate the process
any chance you would be willing to do a video call with me to walk me through it?

Here is one way to do it. I find this method easier and quicker for me.

Here is the method Plasmanewbie shows in his video. Either method will achieve the same result.

Let us know how you make out, and also please let us know if you use Fusion 360 for drawing only - or are you creating your cut paths and g-code using Fusion 360 as well?

Thanks,
David
