3D trojan head

Post by Firehouse Fab »

Good afternoon,
I found several three-dimensional puzzles /projects on the forums. By any chance does anyone have a three-dimensional Trojan Head pattern. Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Can you show a photo of a Trojan Kade pattern so we know what you are looking for?
Thanks,
David

Thanks for letting me know about the typo. I was trying to do too many things at once. I meant a 3-D trojan HEAD.

Are you looking for something structured like the dog or the horse? The dog is created from many small flat pieces welded together, and the horse is created by slicing an stl file into layers.

Also - perhaps you could provide the links (or at least screen shots) to the 3d puzzle projects at the various forums so we can better understand what you are looking for.

More like the Horse. I found an Eagle 3-D project on this forum, and some dinosaurs, but i was hoping that someone might have a trojan head or something similar. I know it's a very long shot, but I thought i'd ask.

You could buy a file like this one and slice it up to create a 3D look similar to the horse. Use Fusion 360 or similar to slice it.

Fusion 360 used to have a slice tool that would do this automatically and create all the slices at once. I think they discontinued that tool - don't know why. So now I am pretty sure that you will have to do it manually one slice at a time. Design Edge does have a tool to slice it all at once. Perhaps I will take a look. Did you want to slice it horizontally or vertically?

I have downloaded the trojan head file. I will see what I can come up with as far as slicing it up.

I have made some progress. The next step would be to slice it horizontally (instead of vertically as I have shown here) and create the horizontal pieces to attach to the vertical pieces (welded together). Once the process is dialed in, then we will need to go back and create much thinner slices (more slices) for better resolution of the finished project. Then figure out how to connect them together (maybe slots) like the horse project shown earlier in the thread.

Firehouse Fab - once you have a chance to look this over, let me know if you have any questions about the process.

That's awesome. I can't imagine how long that takes to do. I don't have fusion 360. I wish I did, but it's a little out of my shops price range right now. It's wild what can be done with it though.

I'm using the free version of Fusion 360 for hobbyists and small businesses. It really doesn't take all that long, once you get the hang of it.

Did anyone ever come up with a file for this project? My son is looking for something to do for his history project, and our high school mascot is the Trojans. Thank you!

What I posted above is as far as I went with this project. I was trying to show the OP how he could do it, but he doesn't have the ability with Fusion 360 to proceed. If your son knows how to use Fusion 360 - then perhaps he could pick up where I left off and come up with a design.

Perhaps post some screen shots of your Fusion 360 drawings so we can see what you have come up with so far.
Thanks,
David
