Re: need help please
Just learning how to trace in my Coreldraw and gave it a go on this one. Turned out pretty decent I think but depending on how fussy you want to be with it there may be some cleanup and/or smoothing to do.

DieselFumes - nice effort to trace that image! I went another way and used Inkscape. I will come back later and see what I can come up with using CorelDraw.

Re: need help please
When I tried to import the original image file at 9000 x 9000 to CorelDraw, it hung up and I had to abort. So I resized to 50% and it works ok.

What image size did you import to CorelDraw and what settings did you use for your autotrace?DieselFumes wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:30 am Just learning how to trace in my Coreldraw and gave it a go on this one. Re: need help please
My favorite thing about CorelDraw is the B-Spline tool - much easier to use than the Inkscape Bezier tool for manual tracing of complex images. Here is an example.
For creating mechanical drawings, I find both QCad and Solid Edge 2D much easier and more intuitive to use than CorelDraw.

Re: need help please
I started with the original image size and when Corel started the trace it informed me it had to reduce the image size prior to tracing and did that automatically so I am unsure what size it chose to use. Auto trace almost always require cleanup I have found but I thought this might help to get him started.adbuch wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 1:44 amWhat image size did you import to CorelDraw and what settings did you use for your autotrace?DieselFumes wrote: ↑Tue Sep 03, 2024 11:30 am Just learning how to trace in my Coreldraw and gave it a go on this one. Re: need help please
I am using CorelDraw 2020. Maybe you are using a newer version. My version did not inform me about resizing the image. In any case, it has been my personal experience that much more clean-up is required with a CorelDraw auto trace than an Inkscape auto trace. See the example I showed above.DieselFumes wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 10:22 amI started with the original image size and when Corel started the trace it informed me it had to reduce the image size prior to tracing and did that automatically so I am unsure what size it chose to use. I have not yet tried autotrace in Inkscape, I feel so comfortable with Corel. Maybe I should give it a go because your trace does look better David.
