Sharpie Pen holder
Hi,
I'm sure someone here does, but how are ya'll hooking a sharpie pen up to your PlasmaCam to draw pictures, spring loaded or not? How does the height control work with a felt pin? I would probably be trying to mark on white poster board. Any info on this would be great, also any pictures or ideas to get me going in the right direction.
Thanks,
CNC_rowdy

Re: Sharpie Pen holder
Here are the instructions for the Plasmacam engraver attachment. It discusses using a marking pen in place of an engraver, and has information about the proper Design Edge settings. I rigged up a temporary sharpie holder and did some drawing when I first got my Plasmacam table.CNC_rowdy wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2024 4:17 pm Hi,

Re: Sharpie Pen holder
Mount a tube of the proper diameter with a cap on the lower end. The tube in this example is just a little too large, which allows the pen to wiggle inside, causing jagged lines. A tube with a hole size much closer to the diameter of the Sharpie would give better results.
Drill a small hole so the tip of the Sharpie can poke through. Set "cut height" to about .015" BELOW where the tip touches the material. You don't need springs or weights. The weight of the Sharpie is sufficient to mark material.

Thanks, I will look into it. I have a machine torch on my machine, along with the snap ' cut mount. This is with automatic height control, so I got the ohmic sensing wire on it. David said he offers one to. Thanks for posting and helping.

I dont like having to remove the stack but do like the ohmic sensor built in.

Re: Sharpie Pen holder
Thank you, I designed it because I didn’t want to have to run different nc files to test anything. I just run the file once with the attachment on, then remove it and turn the plasma cutter on and run it with the consumables cutting. Removing the consumables is a negative but it would have to be a couple inches longer than it already is if I were to design it long enough for them to stay installed. Plus, there could be some potential for accidents to happen if the torch was left assembled ready to fire.ROKCRLER wrote: Fri May 10, 2024 11:47 amThats a slick setup, any more info on it?SRdesign wrote: Fri May 10, 2024 2:24 amIf you have a machine torch, this will also work:CNC_rowdy wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:01 am Thanks Joe, David and all for the info, I will look into it.
