Welcome Jeffoboy! I use a Fusion 360 for mechanical drawing but find it cumbersome for artistic stuff so I use Coreldraw for that. Many others here use Inkscape for artistic stuff as it is free to use. What brand of table are you working with?

i have a langmuir systems, I will check into coreldraw and inkscape. I have a lot of great plans, but yea fusion is very tough to input my art. I do see how it would be helpful when it comes to actual hard parts and fabrication. i do still plan on using it for that as well. thanks a lot i hope to learn a lot more from this group.

I use SheetCam for G-code gen, I has many Post Processors to choose from as it works with lots of controller software packages. Easy to use and add or nest parts for a larger cut operation.

No, you will not be able to generate g code with Corel or Inkscape, they are strictly for design, you will need to generate your g code with whatever program you currently gen your code.

For artistic drawings and shapes that are not CAD friendly, use an iPAD and the free app VECTOR Q with an Apple Pencil. It is very easy to use for drawing, and it handles things like crossovers and stray nodes very well.

Hey Jeffoboy, Russ K here. Also from WA, Tacoma area. I have a PlasmaCam 4x4 with Design Edge so can't help with the Fusion360. Glad to see another from this area. Happy cutting!

Actually - Inkscape will indeed generate g-code. Here are several examples. Click on the links to see the entire slide shows.

When you say "fusion is very tough to input my art" - exactly what form is your art in? Perhaps show an example. If you are wanting to manually trace an art file which is in jpeg form, you can import it to Fusion 360 and manually trace it. Fusion 360 does have a great Spline tool for tracing. If your art files are already in vector format, you may have better luck importing them to SheetCam for cam/post processing. Here is an example showing a manual trace using Fusion 360.
