Electronics Enclosures
Do we have a "sticky thread" on electronics enclosures guides? Like an ongoing thread of DIY and manufactured enclosures? Dos and don't, basics etc to building one. Thanks. Here's the start of mine, it's in a gutted Dell computer tower

Re: Electronics Enclosures
Many have use that same type of enclosure, I'm to much of a DIY type and have build my own for the tables I built. I feel it is more custom and I can arrange things as or where I want them. Here are a few examples from the past. All are metal and are roll around.

Do you know if I can mount my 5V relays to the metal frame but with a 1/4 thick piece of rubber in between to keep the prongs on the bottom from shorting out?

I don't see any reason why not. Shouldn't even have to bother with the rubber.Ezalyconfuzd1 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 11:22 am Thanks! Those are sweet!

I'm not great with DC electrical. But I am a overthinker and it just seemed like the sorter pins underneath that would be resting on the metal would short out since they rest on the shell of the tower.weldguy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 12:28 pmI don't see any reason why not. Re: Electronics Enclosures
Here is the closest thing to an enclosure I've made. I wanted as close as I could get to a period correct "center console" for my 46 CJ2A so I decided to make a toolbox that would fit there, but look like a 1940's farmer could have just set it there.
It has a false latch and hinges from the back for easier access, with a magnetic phone holder inside.
I also installed a "period correct" cupholder on the top.

Well its not as cool as yalls but I'm getting there and trying to work the bugs out at the same time. Also learning about relays, and diodes, and transformers, and.... been working on it every afternoon for an hr or two.
