Gas Filter? Powermax 65

I must be the stupidest person on the planet. I replaced the gas filter on my Powermax 65 and I can't get the filter bowl to go back on. The groves slide in and I try to turn it right or left and it won't tighten. HELP! The book makes it seem so easy. TIA Jeff.

I struggled with that before. The bowl turns on the opposite way that you would think to twist it back on.
