Is anyone familiar with Nueron Simplex ? this is what Iam using on my plasma table . It has been working fairly well for a couple of years but all of a sudden Z axis will not function. Can anyone help?

stepper motor or driver failed?

have you tested them as a starting point?

Stepper motor works fine . cable checks out ok

If the motor and cable have checked out ok the next step would be to plug the Z motor into the X driver and jog the X axis to see if the Z motor now moves. If so you have a bad Z driver. This is a good test assuming all your motors and drives are the same and do the cable swaps with the power unplugged.

I did this test and Z motor works fine.

In that case you will want to replace the Z axis stepper drive, preferably the same as what is already in there for simplicity.

I swapped the z and the y axis boards and got the same results , no z movement.

I did this test and Z motor works fine.

Above you stated you did the test (swapping Z and X motor drives) and the Z axis motor worked fine.

Did you do this test again using the Y axis drive instead of the X axis drive?

it seems as if nueron signal is not getting to the z axis. the z drive worked fine for the y axis.
