Hyperthermia 85 air flow problem

Post by i_r_machinist »

Torch will fire for a few second the error out with no air pressure light. After a minute or so the light will go out and it will fire and do the same thing. Clean the filter on the machine. I'm getting some kind of flow restriction inside the machine. I run filtered air with a moisture separator. Plenty of air to the machine. No problems in the last 10 years. Just started yesterday.
Internal valve problem?
Thanks in advance

You can call the tech center of Hypertherm to see what they say. I think the things inside are a pressure sensor and a solenoid, you may have a leak in the hoses.

It shows a 0-21 psi and the air cylinder symbol.

Install a pressure gauge ($5) hard plumbed to the plasma cutter air inlet fitting. Read the pressure on this gauge......now activate the torch so air flows at the torch....read the gauge while this is being done. If this inlet pressure gauge drops below 90 psi when air at the torch is activated.....then you have either low compressor output or restrictions in the air plumbing system. If you have been reading a gauge mounted anywhere but right at the inlet fitting you will not find the cause using this technique. A lot of things can cause reading a good pressure at the compressor or air drying unit, but low pressure at the inlet. Your symptoms all point to inadequate inlet pressure. Keep us posted, show some pics of the air plumbing setup.
