What would you charge?

Post by BeeSpoolin »

Hey everyone, just had my first custom order come through for a sign. They sent me an image online of a cricuit svg file. So I did my best to capture what detail I could. The project specs through pronest are exactly :

32"x39" in size 14gMS (purchased for $200CAD 4x8'sheet)
Cut inches: 995.369in
Peirces: 36
Cut time: 9:04min

Running through my spreadsheet I come up right at $200. (Material+cutinches+peirces). Raw Cut sign. No paint/weld.

Thoughts?

Just dross removal and minimum grinding? If so, then I would probably be around $250-$300 USD. Still trying to get my pricing down as well.

You did a nice job on your edit! If this is to be a yard art decoration (which I am assuming from the stakes at the bottom) then you might consider adding a little bit more support at the right side of the nose/eyes (as viewed from the front) to give it a little bit more strength. In addition to your cut time and materials, I would figure in for your engineering/design time for cad processing of the original file and if they want it clean with dross removed then add in for that as well. I'm not in the business of cnc plasma cutting signs, but I would say around $300 out the door.

Ah OK so sound like we are all around the same, assuming you are using CAD not USD as I am located in Ontario.
The 200 was for raw Cut with a quick clean on friends and family pricing discount. Normal would have been 262ish +tax

David, thanks for your suggestion I was thinking about adding a bit more support there to the right side, I figured it would be fine. But seeing as you pointed it out! I must do something about it now! Haha

That one's got lots of fine details, and I would dread cleaning it up with wire cup and flap discs. Another option would be the "acid soak" - which I did try on a smaller part and posted the results a while back. Good luck!!

$275.00

My price calculator is WAY out of date. I do not know what current sheet metal prices are. The spreadsheet can be adjusted by changing the values in the BLUE boxes.

Hey Joe! I'm pretty sure I used your template to help build mine! I mean based on $200 sheet price our prices seem pretty on par.

Just wanted to personally say thanks for sharing that definitely pointed me in the right direction.

Thanks. I am glad it helps people. I have not put any energy into updating it in a long time
