Re: Sheetcam and starfire
It cuts simple designs but when I start to cut detailed pieces It butchers it up.
Im starting to think because everything is in metric and Im doing everything in inches
maybe some of the problem.A ? tho .Being everything is set up on the machine /speed/kerf/and pierce height
should the tool be set up as usual or left blank and set the machine up to cut to keep having conflicts between software issues?
Thanks for any help.

When you say it butchers the job, do you mean it cuts the wrong shapes? I'm wondering if it's an arc problem. A good test for arc issues is to cut a square with rounded corners and a circle.

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
What Postprocessor are you using in sheetcam ?
What is the model of your starfire controller?
What THC do you have?
I did a lot of tuning to the post processor to get mine to work really well for both the THC and starfire.

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Im using the Baleigh post processor
the controller should be the latest I would think and the thc is built in the controller
I tried to cut last night and I noticed when it got to curves the machine slowed down alot but on
straight lines it did good . WI say butchered I meant it cuts the right shape it just cuts really thin
and cuts out pieces it shouldn't .Its good to know that some are having success that means that I have a programming issue
I would rather stick with something I kno a little about {sheetcam} if possible.I guess Ill keep changing processors until I find 1 that works for me I find one that works and try to keep tweaking the machine Thanks for the help

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Is it doubling your kerf comp? Compensating in Sheetcam and then again when you bring the file into your controller. Maybe your just trying to cut too much detail into a small piece. Do you have a couple pictures to post and/or the dxf file that causes issues?

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
You maybe right about the kerf setting in sheet cam .Do you think I need to leave kerf blank and speed too ? and just set it in
my controller But why would it slow down on cutting curves ? I mean real slow.Ill try to cut some pieces tonight and post some pictures if I can
but Im thinking kerf has a lot to do with it.Thanks

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Slowing down for curves is normal but yours sounds extreme. Yes, I would try leaving speed and kerf blank and allow your controller to handle it and see how that works out. Let us know.

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
If you dont mind me asking what would be a good processor for it and what would be good kerf settings
all of my settings are in metric so thats got me kinda screwed up too. I have fastcam software that came with the machine
and havent figured it out yet .Learning chinese so thats going to take a little while watching you tube videos.

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Just a thought - is it sometimes cutting the right shapes but in the wrong place? If so you could be losing steps on the machine.
I just had a look through a starfire manual and the 'Corner speed between conversions angle' parameter may help speed up cutting. The manual isn't very clear but play around with the settings and see if it makes any difference.

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Change your P to one of the start PP's
Start and starfire are the same thing
In the controller set change your kerf settings to 0
Sheetcam adds the path offset you dont want the controller adding more
Send me a PM and I can send you my updated PP

Re: Sheetcam and starfire
Your starfire wont probe it only does the XY axis. The Z axis is controlled via the THC.
What do you have for the THC?
For the PP use the "start" pp
