Lockformer 1000B is shaking - causing ripple cuts
We have been using our plasma for years now and it has always cut beautiful blanks. Until we upgraded our controller boards. Now the torch head is shaking causing ripple edged cuts. I'm looking at radii speeds but could use some insight here. Anybody out there familiar with this problem?

Does your Lockformer have auto torch height control? If so turn that off and do a test cut and report back with the results.

Keep in mind we are dealing with software no longer under support and new upgraded controller boards for X and Y axis motors. I don't see height control as such but I do see "ReverseLifterControls = false" in the setup in put table/file.

Setting that to true didn't affect shaking. Thanks though.

OK, so no auto height control to control that moves the torch up and down as the material warps so we can cross that off the list, the reason I asked is it can often be a big contributor to vibration when not set up properly.
So do you see the ripple edge cut on arc's or do you see it on straight cuts also?

Mostly on radius cuts. It also shakes when doing a "dry Run" with the torch head up off the table.

I expect this is a problem with tuning your new controllers. Does your cut table use servos or steppers?RSM Sheet Metal Works wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 3:25 pm Mostly on radius cuts. It also shakes when doing a "dry Run" with the torch head up off the table.

Thank you for still trying. It uses servos. Also, I tested both radius and straight movement. The shaking and ripple cut effect is only on radius movement

Could be motor tuning but could also be post processor. Sounds like it's just not smoothing the corners out. What controller and software are you using?

Logosol LS-132-2010 controllers and Vulcan from 2013. Quickpen VSControl runs the plasma table

OK I am not at all familiar with that equipment. Can't even find anything on Quickpen VSControl. I know my cnc mill will move much rougher when machining arcs on clearing passes and then when it does a final contour pass it is MUCH smoother. I suspect your post processor is simply not handling the arcs as it should.

So what software is used to draw what you want to cut?
Once it's drawn you don;t need to do anything else, you just go ahead and cut it from the same software?
Are you doing just HVAC type parts?

OK, had a couple other questions for you above that Quickpen screenshot above that may help, reply when you get a chance.RSM Sheet Metal Works wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:23 am That's not it. Although it might be related.
Can you send me a pic of your software screen?

I appreciate your interest here but CAD software is proprietary stuff and you either know it or you don't. I need input from someone out there who has had and solved my exact shaking issue with the Lockformer 1000B and Vulcan 2013 software

10-4. You may have better luck on an HVAC forum finding someone with experience using that exact setup. The issue you have is not uncommon and can likely be resolved with some QA and troubleshooting. Wishing you good luck in finding your solution and if you figure it out I would be curious to know what it was.

I think your best bet is to contact the distributor/manufacturer you purchased the new boards from for technical support. You may need to have a tech come to your shop and diagnose/fix your problem.
