Assuming you are cutting with a cnc machine...not cutting by hand...Open up your operators manual to the pages with the detailed mechanized torch cut specifications. use the Fine Cut Consumables for best quality, use the 40 amp mechanized shielded consumables for better speed and consumable life.
The consumable part numbers are listed as well as all of the cut parameters....current (amps), pierce delay, pierce height, cut height as well as cut speed.
If you don't have the manual...you can download a copy free from www.hypertherm.com, click on download library, then choose system type (Powermax1000) then choose manuals, then operators manual. You can download it as a .pdf or a .zip file.
The specs in the manual are right on for the best cuts.

Re: 1/8in steel or 11ga
There was a operations manual changes pdf that contains speeds for 10 and 12 ga. not 11 but I would just split the difference ie. 47 amps 76 tip volts 70 ipm aprx. and adjust from there.
Material thickness Approximate travel speeds
cur volt ga. mm. ipm mm.per/min.
50 76 10 ga 3.4 90 2286
45 77 12 ga 3.4 50 1270

The 10 gauge specifications for steel will work fine for 1/8". There is only about .010" difference in thickness.....virtually no difference in cut parameters.
