I'm a newb and don't have a table yet. I'm doing some knowledge hunting on software to use. I've enjoyed designing 3D models in Sketchup, but I've heard Draft Sight is the main go to for 2D. I've heard I can modify Sketchup to dxf but to beware because it may not support some important cad entities.
Is there a 3D software that automatically converts which portions I choose in my designs to dxf, also would this same program nest components to save metal.
I've had my eye on Autodesk Fusion 360 but before I learn another platform I wanted to hear everyones opinions or input. To each and every one of you thank you.
Hey all!!

Re: Hey all!!
Welcome to the site! I have no experience with Sketchup or Draftsite but have worked with Fusion 360 and I think it is great. I will give you the ability to save portions of your design to dxf but no auto nesting capability that I know of. Plenty of great videos out there to learn on. Look up some tutorials on creating sketches as that will be what you will need to know for design for plasma and for saving designs as dxf. Show us what you create!

Welcome aboard you will need a program that moves from your DXF drawing to create G-code. Many use SheetCam and you can manually nest with SheetCam. SheetCam with automatically nest a single part for large numbers in a single G-code, or a group you import too. You can also use Inkscape to nest but is limited with the G-code generation section, so still need SheetCam or another CAM program.
