Good Morning,

My husband and I purchased an Arclight Dynamics 5 x 10-foot table about 2 years ago. Had some issues with it for about the first 6 months, but Arclight did get it resolved! With my husband running our full-time Auto body repair business, I'm primarily designing and working/cutting on the plasma machine during the week. I've learned quite a bit, and have had to learn Inkscape very quickly! Still have a lot to learn about everything though.

Glad to have the opportunity to get some time on the forum and introduce ourselves.

Welcome aboard to the Barnard business, sounds like you will have a tool that will expand your service. Many Arclight here to answer questions, or others for the more generic questions. And for a quicker answer you can use the search function in the upper right for things the have been posted earlier. Also you can download DXF/SVG files for all kinds of projects that may interest you to use for work or play. :Like

Yes, it's been a bit of a learning curve while trying to make use of everything, but it all works well. They also have QCAD installed on the computer hardware, but so far we haven't needed it unless a precision cut is required on a part. Inkscape works well 95% of the time.

Robin & Dave, glad to hear you are finally up and cutting! Arclight Dynamics has a pretty good reputation for producing quality cutting tables, and I have interacted in the past with many satisfied Arclight Dynamics users. On of the really neat features of you table is the fact that they offer an upgrade/add-on accessory for auto tracing. This attachment allows you to place a cardboard or paper pattern onto your table and have the machine automatically trace around it and convert the result to a dxf file. This works for solid objects, drawings, wood, etc. - basically anything where there is a high edge contrast for the camera to follow.

For those who do not own an Arclight Dynamics table, but who do wish to add this capability to either a new or existing table, here is a recent post with more information on how to accomplish this.

I have this setup installed onto one of my Avid cnc wood router tables and it works great!
