Loop corners for sharp plasma cut edges
we got a shop sabre table in and my boss wants to use loop corners for sharp edges. is there a rule of thumb for how big the loop diameter should be in relation to the material or voltage? I'm unfamiliar with the loop corer in general, thank you in advance for any help.

Re: loop corners
what is the X and Y axis acceleration?
it is a function of 2 x [ feedrate / 60 x 0.6 ] ^2 / acceleration
ie
2 X [400 ipm / 60 x 0.6 ]^2 / 116 inch/s/s
minimum 0.276 inch diameter.
you can make it larger... as it will make the motion smoother

Re: loop corners
I appreciate the help on that the o0nly other issue I'm having now is when coming out of the loop the torch takes a small dip into the material it doesn't crash it just dips below the cut height before it adjusts back to the proper Height. is there another setting i should look at?

Re: loop corners
lock the torch height for the loops, same as small arcs and circles less than 1" in dia

Re: loop corners
ummm forgive me but how exactly do we lock the torch height? Pretty new to this.

Re: loop corners
what are you using?
Mach3, Mach4, UCCNC, LinuxCNC ...... whatever?
All have different ways, and some are better than others.

Sorry about that. Shopsabre SideKick 8 using Enroute Fab and WinCNC. I do however have QCad and Sheetcam but I haven't used them yet.

Re: loop corners
sorry not got a clue about that motion controller software. with the others there is or can be a gcode which ignores or inhibits downward motion of the torch when the voltage rises, this can be used in corners and for arcs. or THC can be disabled also as an option.
some motion controllers use synchronous gcode and some use non-syncronous gcode commands to turn the THC on and off or THC corner lock functions.

Re: loop corners
Are you sure it is not already locking the height control out? I would be surprised if it wasn't. If your unsure make a couple reference marks on the torch body and lifter with a Sharpie or string a piece of masking tape from torch to the lifter and keep an eye on it to see if the torch moves during these loops.Bigrednick wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 1:45 pm ummm forgive me but how exactly do we lock the torch height?
