FirePit
I downloaded this file from the sharing section. I'm not sure that I am scaling this correctly in inkscape. I made the dimensions correct (I think) but not sure if the angles are still correct. I'm geometrically challenged. If someone is able to scale the sides to match the bottom, I would appreciate it and so would the Mrs..... I know it is pretty simple but I can't afford to mess it up. Cutting this out of 1/4" plate.
Thank You
I was able to find the post containing this file. If someone can make the correction, I'll cut this out post a pic and the file in the proper thread.

Re: FirePit
It was supposed to be 30" but the sides are way small for the base pieces. I cut these base pieces out a little bit ago. I'm playing with cardboard now trying to make the sides fit what I already cut. Wife threatened to go to Lowes and buy one if I don't have this done today.....

Re: FirePit
I appreciate you trying to figure this out and help me. The original file has the "legs" that I cut out and pictured. I'm beyond frustrated so I don't mean to sound ungrateful in any way. This thing overall should be a 30"x30" square. I missed the boat in math class I guess I don't know.

Re: FirePit
Do you have the link to the thread where you got the file so we can see what it looks like? Do the points on the "legs" or base go up or down when in use?

Re: FirePit
OK - I see how it goes together. Let me know the dimensions you want as shown below and I will take a look.

Re: FirePit
Since you have already cut the legs, then there is one more dimension I will need so that we know that the fire pit will fit the legs already cut.big496 wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 5:55 pm C:30"
A: 10 1/4"
B: 10 1/4" (from top to bottom of the side angle)

Re: FirePit
A and B can't both be 10 1/4" - see my attached image. B is the depth of the actual pit, and A is the height of the outside end of the leg.big496 wrote: Tue Jun 07, 2022 5:55 pm C:30"
A: 10 1/4"
B: 10 1/4" (from top to bottom of the side angle)
I also need to know dimension D - the dimension for the square plate that makes up the floor of the actual pit.

Re: FirePit
My first post here has the original dxf that I used to cut the legs so should give correct dimensions. I can measure with pics tomorrow. I appreciate the help from you guys! Wife gave me another day to produce results

Re: FirePit
I just seen your diagram that looks pretty good from my memory of measuring and drawing this a dozen times. I do believe the "D" dimension you asked about was roughly 11.750. I had my kerf set at .070, shielded 65A per hypertherm manual, but seemed to cut a bit oversized. I'm half tempted to go back to my shop and cut this. I haven't been this frustrated with something that, in my eyes, is so simple.

Re: FirePit
Actually - please disregard this (image above). I have just realized that the leg pieces are positioned diagonally on the pit. When you said 30", perhaps you meant 30" as measured diagonally across the top opening of the fire pit. Or did you mean that you want the fire pit to measure 30" across the top edges which would give a diagonal measurement of about 42.42"?

Re: FirePit
By the way, this is one time where if you are not sure, it would probably be beneficial to install a sharpie pen holder to your torch and use the program to have your plasma table draw the cut paths on a large piece of cardboard or poster board. Then us a knife or scissors to cut out the pieces and tape them together to do a mock-up and fit check. Much cheaper than testing with 1/4" steel plate. I know you said you have a 1 day deadline, but I have found from experience that it usually doesn't pay to be in a big hurry - at least for me anyway.

The second i made 30" wide side to side..

Re: FirePit
First and foremost, I AM AN IDIOT. Secondly I thank you guys for helping me and apologize for wasting your time. After David's comment it dawned on me what MY problem was. I was trying to build it 30 wide and the file was 30 diagonally which lead me to incorrect assembly. For some reason it never clicked in my head. So I feel like a total d@&% for asking for help with this. ROK I will use your file you took the time to draw up as I wanted that size originally. This has been a very humbling experience and attention to detail could never be more important on these drawings. Tails tucked right now guys don't hold this against me.

Big... no worries man... dont beat yourself up.. this exercise allowed me to learn yet another cool thing in SolidEdge.
As stated before, were all here to help
The scaled version i posted is only the bowl, not the supports, i'll work on those sometime today.

Re: FirePit
I need to invest in some software and LEARN how to use it. Still trying with fusion and tutorials. If you get around to scaling so it's 30 wide that would be awesome. Not sure I have enough steel to cut one that big at the moment. Maybe I can pawn this one off on somebody and buy more. Work kinda fell off with everything the way it is so, I have time to learn and not repeat these shenanigans I hope!
