Anyone using any of the chamfering/beveling tools for edge finishing of their cuts on steel, SS or aluminum.
Examples of these tools:
B2 Air or similar much less expensive units on Amazon
Metabo Compact Beveling tool
If so, interested in any comments or reviews.
Thx

Re: Chamfering Beveling Tools
That tool looks interesting. It seems like most of the reviews are from those using it for chamfering the edges of large beams before welding for achieving good weld penetration. I'm not sure how useful it would be for smaller pieces with lots of curves. What types of applications are you looking to use it for?

A few.
Basic dross removal.
Thought they would produce a consistent bevel for a professional look on edges both straight and contoured, especially the curved edges.
Also would help with preparation of edges on aluminum and SS prior to TIG (GTAW) welding.
The smaller units seem to be able to get into some smaller holes and contours. Holes could be done with a chamfer bit, but depth consistency can be a challenge if not on a mill.
Contours and curves maybe could be chamfered with one of these tools fairly efficiently with a fair degree of consistency. Similar to wood routers and a bottom bearing bit.
Just some thoughts, although they tend to be kind of expensive.

Re: Chamfering Beveling Tools
I picked up this chamfer tool with high hopes of cleaning cut edges.
This is on 3/16" carbon: This is on 1/4" carbon: Overall, for about $50, not a bad tool... but definitely wont remove dross... you'll chew up the blades quick.
I used it on 3/16 alum and it gummed up, adjusted the cut depth less aggressive and lubed with WD40 and it cut better, but it does leave chatter marks. This is on 3/16" carbon: This is on 1/4" carbon: Overall, for about $50, not a bad tool... but definitely wont remove dross... you'll chew up the blades quick.
