Compressors

Hi just checking what compressors people recommend for the Hypertherm 45 or 65 for up to about AU$2000.

I have found this compressor at Sydney tools which I have never seen one so quiet. Has anybody here tried it?
Any advice welcomed.

Most any 60 gallon 5hp compressor would work but that one you are looking at looks awesome! For under 2k it seems like a great deal. If you get it I would love to hear what you think of it, pretty sweet

I've looked at those oil free compressors in the past and I could not see the CFM being that great. happy to be proved wrong but I have 2x1.1kw similar compressors and they are well below 3cfm each at 60psi

I tested the CFM using a plug with a hole (orifice) in it of known size, and an orifice flow formula

Oh, I didn't read the specs. Didn't realize it was oil free or only a 40 gallon tank. Looks pretty stout in the pic but after reading more I wouldn't be interested.

Looks like a nice little portable unit. I expect it would probably work for your application. My compressor is a 80 gallon upright Speedaire with 7 1/2 HP motor and 2 stage cast iron compressor rated at about 27 cfm. I bought it new over 30 years ago and have never had a problem with it.

410 lpm FAD and 150 litre tank makes it look like a good deal.
The larger tank will reduce cycle time.
Don't forget to include a refrigerated drier in your budget. It needs to be rated for the air flow. Essential in Australia ( I found that out the hard way).

This is the one I have. It is a good brand and pretty good value because it includes the inlet and outlet filters generally quoted seperately by others.
