New help with something made in inkscape
I need help with this file please. i want all the inside lines dotted so that I can bend the metal and weld the slots in between. its 10g so the slots can be 4" or so and the connecting metal can be 1/4" or so so that I'm able to bend it. I've been trying for hours and cant figure it out. Any help is great. Here is the svg from inscape but it come up wonky in sheetcam, as well as I need the interior solid lines turned to dotted bend lines.

Hopefully this is what you are after. Your supplied drawing is not exactly square, so this was much more work than if you had simply supplied a sketch with dimensions for me to work from. Let me know if you have questions.

What cad software program were you using in your attempt to add the cuts for bend lines?

This would be better if all of the slots were even.adbuch wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 8:39 pm Hopefully this is what you are after. Not exactly what you mean by "even". Please elaborate.djreiswig wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 9:11 pmThis would be better if all of the slots were even.adbuch wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 8:39 pm Hopefully this is what you are after. Maybe you mean if the slots were all the same length? He is planning to bend and weld the slots, so I don't think it really matters. If you were talking about something else, then please let me know.

Yes, that's what I meant. I didn't catch that he was going to weld them. I sometimes use bend slots, buy I try to make things symmetrical where the tabs are centered between the slots and the slots are the same length as well as the tabs. I guess in this case it doesn't matter.

If I were doing this part drawing from scratch, then they would certainly be symmetrical. But in this case I spend almost an hour messing around with his original drawing and really didn't have any more free time to spend on it. I would also suggest that the OP widen out the slots to facilitate bending. I have done this before with this sort of thickness material and I would probably make the slots around 0.100" or so wide. Easy enough to do by just offsetting them to each side and closing in the ends.djreiswig wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 10:19 am Yes, that's what I meant. I didn't catch that he was going to weld them.
