Im building a 4x4 table and planning things out a bit.
I have helical rack and pinion and am planning on having a 3:1 gear reduction on each of the Y axis motors. Going to have 2 Y axis motors.
The gantry will be around 90lbs all said and done, wondering if 2 STP-MTR-23055 motors with the 3:1 gear reduction would suffice? They are only 166oz but should be closer to 498oz with the gear reduction. They are also fairly low inductance at 2.4mH, and cheap.
Likely the correct answer is it depends on the actual rolling resistance of my gantry, but just wondering if I am anywhere in the ballpark.

Re: 4x4 table build questions
I am not a mechanical engineer, but just thinking out loud, your concern should be with the acceleration. There is a lot of stopping and starting with plasma cutting. The smallest motor I use is a 425 Oz and this is to move the torch on one axis with a 3:1 drive.
