GAS MACHINE TORCH

Post by Jackmorris »

Does anyone use a gas torch beside there plasma head?
How far is the head from the Gantry/Plasma torch?
How hot does the gantry get? Could it warp?
Any info would be good as at the moment it's about 150mm from the gantry.

I have on a few occasions in the past and removed the plasma torch and replaced it with a gas torch so the 2 torches were never side by side to have to worry about heat. As for warping the gantry it is very possible. A steel beam gantry would be fine however and aluminum or sheet metal gantry could warp if too hot. I would get a cheap infrared temp monitor and check the temps for the first couple runs and be sure its not getting too hot. A heat shield can help a lot also.

My flame torch is probably 6" from flame to gantry. Maybe a little less. Never noticed any affect on it. I swap out torches, so the plasma hangs on the other side of the gantry out of the way.
