I "think" AC posted about Axidraw extension a while ago.

Here is the link:

This is what I've been using for single line cuts and engraving.

My mistake! I only got as far as the first page when I looked at it yesterday. Oh well! I guess I will remove that site from my bookmarks.

Nice! I had forgotten about that. I installed it back when Tom first mentioned it. I have one question. Is there a way in Inkscape to smooth out the "S"?
I'm not really an Inkscape guy. I saved as dxf, opened with Design Edge, and smoothed it with a factor of 0.02. Can this same thing be accomplished easily from within Inkscape?
Thanks,
David

Just do a search for CamBam stick fonts, there are many sites with them. I just picked the first site in the list. I downloaded these fonts many years ago when I was using CamBam on my router table. I don't think I have them on this computer, but I'll look for them and see if I can attach them here.

I couldn't get these to work when installed as Windows fonts. I installed into the Plasmacam Design Edge fonts and they work fine.

I've never heard of stick fonts but can see where they'd be useful. Thanks to the OP and everyone else for making me aware of them!

That happens with some fonts, not sure if it is the formatting of the file or not. Attached is a screen shop of mine in Inkscape you may be looking in the wrong place, you can see a 1 in the names of each. Shock I just looked and typed using a CAmBam font and the letters do not show. Tried to increase the stroke, no help. :Sad Ok looked and if you select "object to path" you can then see it :HaHa

When do you use "object to path"? I tried it several times with no success.

It is under the "path" drop down menu, see attached, still acts funny as when I typed the letters did not show but the special character did.
I needed to go to fill and stroke and click on a stroke color to have the letters show.

Tom - I got it to work so it is now visible. How do I get rid of the dark centers on the letter "O"?
Thanks,

You may find funny but answering question helps me to learn more too. See attached image by changing between normal and outline to things happen. One the letters are present without changing the fill and stroke is showed before and it does remove the insides of the closed letters that you pointed to. But beware if you leave Inkscape in the outline mode and open another drawing it may not show. It seems somethings stay changed when leaving Inkscape and can cause a problem the next time you open Inkscape. One is changing the corners of a square to rounded, shown here.
