Aussie new bloke - Hypertherm 45
G'day guys, just popping in to say hello.
I've recently purchased a Hypertherm 45 and waiting on its arrival. Pretty excited.
I've used (for fun and personal 4x4 building) a chinese scratch unit for the last coupe of years which has actually treated me pretty well. Eager to see the difference in cut.
I've completed designs of the table in which I'll be building, its a bit different to what I've seen before and may prove to be a waste of time but I'm going to give it a crack anyway.
Whilst collecting parts for the build I've been playing around with a few programs getting a few designs together and never realised i kind of have an artistic side....
Looking forward to hearing / sharing experiences and ideas.

Cheers for the welcome.
I have a couple of files I'll throw up once i get given the purple bits. These are yet to be cut but maybe someone would like to check them over or cut them for themselves.

Jim, Just to let you know I talked to your rep you had at the Iola Car Show here in Wisconsin this weekend. His name was Jeff and by talking to him and seeing how helpful you are here on the site my decision was made right there and then as soon as I save up the peso's I WILL be buying a Hypertherm. Your company treats everyone very well. Even when someone was trying to say one company was better than Hypertherm and wouldn't just walk away he handled it like a true professional.

Re: Aussie new bloke
Jim, there wasn't really any competition between brands / models.
I've seen the work you've cut with your 45 and it's second to none when i comes to a single phase unit.
Jim, One question regarding the cpc port on the rear. I'm having trouble finding a pigtail plug or something i can use when it comes to connecting the machines together. Where can i source one of these and at what price is reasonable?
Cheers

Just found the answer after a final search ha ha, sometimes it just takes a different approach at the words used in google to get the result you're after!
Thanks anyway.
Thanks anyway.

The CPC (circular plastic connector) and the connecting pins is often purchased with the interface cable from Hypertherm....or you can make your own cable. The plug itself (and the pins) is an Amp style connector made by Tyco, and is available through most electronic supply houses.

Re: Aussie new bloke
I can probably dig up the Amp or Tyco part numbers for the plug.....I have a few of them in my home shop...but the shipping would probably be prohibitive! The biggest issue with them is finding the correct tool for crimping the pins....the Amp hand tool is over $150 US!

Re: Aussie new bloke
i was just about to ask if you had them handy. We have the crimp tool at work so that's no issue but only use 3,4 and 10 pin connectors.
If you do have a part number to run with, that would be perfect!
edit: I can find the tyco in plastic being: 206044-1 if you could confirm

Re: Aussie new bloke
Well what can I say?
As (may have) mentioned earlier somewhere, I've been hand cutting with a Chinese unit for a few years with nothing but a grin when the metal is being cut.
The other day i unpacked my new Hypertherm powermax 45, chucked a plug on the lead, plugged the air in and pulled the trigger..........
I didn't think i was missing out on anything with the old cutter but this thing has proven me wrong. Quick, powerful, smooth, predictive cuts.
Using it has put a boot up my ass to get the table built! for anyone wondering which direction to go when it comes to the unit to use... I believe hypertherm cannot be beat!
