Hey everyone this is probably a simple fix but I cant figure it out. I make these metal rectangle signs that are plasma cut, I need all the lettering on the inside cut with NO OFFSET, and the outside perimeter cut OUTSIDE OFFSET. How do I incorporate both offsets into the same file?
I currently cut them with all NO OFFSET but when the perimeter cuts the torch pierce starts on the inside of the sign and leaves a small knick, that's what I need to eliminate.

Perhaps show a photo of your part, and let us know what software you are using.

If you are using SheetCam you separate the outside into a new layer then plans the operation for all the inside letters with no offset. The plans the last operation as an outside offset for the outside layer. Here are the steps needed last image I turned off the inside layer plans so you could see the outside better. You will have it on for doing the post processor. It will be in one G-code for all cuts.

Re: Multiple offset on same file
The same process can be used for setting up a G-code with all 3 offsets. You just highlight each type and move them to a new layer or adding them to the same layer until they are all separated as you want them to be, for cutting. I use the same process to do center punch marks for drilling holes, then put a pause in the G-code to change the amp setting to do the finish through cutting. In this video I forgot to lower the amps at the start for the center punches so they went all the through the 3/16" but still worked as they should for drilling.

You can break down many layers to achieve better cut results too
I always put my circles on their on cut to slow it down to get a better round circle
Once you get used to the layers system you can really fine tune your cuts.

not trying to thread jack but im having an issue with the inside offset when i use that option the torch will pierce the outside of part that im trying to keep but will cut on the inside of the line if that makes sense.

If you are drawing in a CAD program prior to import to Sheetcam you can create the layers in your CAD program and then choose them in Sheetcam and apply tools to each layer.

Is the object it is cutting a closed path?torch will pierce the outside of part that im trying to keep but will cut on the inside of the line if that makes sense.

Using Inkscape to design in. And yes it appears to be no broken lines have checked in sheetcam and don’t see any dots.
