I went with RV antifreeze, works well, a little messy.

Not expensive. Make sure you use the kind with no alcohol in it.

Does anyone have any success using water trough style submersion heaters on their water table to prevent freezing? How about using a magnetic block heater that attaches to the bottom of the water table?

I mix Hengstefers S-500 water soluble coolant with the water in my water tray. This is the same stuff I use in my cnc machines for cutting/coolant.
