Can I hook up a Game Controller to run Jogging?

Post by tulsajosh »

I have a older Torchmate 2 table and software. I was wondering if there was a way to hook up a PC game controller and be able to program it to jog my X & Y Axis when im setting my start positions?

Yes, I believe any PC game controller can be used. Not familiar with TM software but I am confident you can easily make it work. Plug it in and give it a go :Like :Like

Well so far no luck getting it to work. Only seems to be setup for a torchmate/flashcut pendant and cant figure out how to convert it or recognize my controller as a pendant

I ran a wireless game controller on my Router CNC table, which used Mach3 as the control software. In order to make it work I seem to remember having to load a plugin off the Mach site.
I don't know what TM uses for it's control software, but if it is proprietary software, then I would imagine they would have to make a plugin. That said, I've read a lot of posts where it is not recommended to use a wireless controller on a plasma machine due to the RF generated by the plasma arc, which could mess up the wireless signals and lead to unwanted (read dangerous) results.

On your Torchmate can you jog the torch using the arrow keys on your keyboard?

I figured it out. It wasn't too hard. PM me if you want help. Just need Keytojoy downloaded on the pc and the keystroke commands. I can tell you what I have for my settings if it helps. BTW, I just bought a wireless USB PS3 style off of Amazon for $20.

Works fantastic!

I'd be interested in the settings you are using. Thanks!
