I'm trying to cut some parts out of 1/4" aluminum. I tried using book specs but it wouldn't cut all of the way through. I slowed it down and got it to cut through but couldn't get clean cuts. It looked like a blowout on the back, and it beveled greatly.
Any advice?

Were you using the 45 amp nozzle or a Fineut?

I haven't cut 6mm, but have used finecuts on 5mm aluminium and got great cuts, might be worth a try.

I was using a Finecut because I didnt think to switch them out. But, I changed the torch height, speed, and the consumable to a 45amp nozzle and was able to achieve a perfect cut.

Unfortunately I'm not able to decrease the thickness needed. But with some minor adjustments in the torch height, cut speed, and using a regular 45amp nozzle I was able to get a perfect cut.

Excellent! I have tried 1/4 alum with Finecut in the past and had poor results so I figured I would askCleanCutCreations wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 4:18 pmI was using a Finecut because I didnt think to switch them out. Re: 1/4" Aluminum Cut Issues with 45xp
I just cut some 1/4" alum with my wright cnc and at book settings it did well. 70imp, 100v on proma and .065 cut height.
The cheap proma isnt the best so there was some slight taper but it was manageable.
Settings were with regular consumables.
