Hi All,
I am new to this forum and new to CNC plasma cutting. I am having gantry type CNC with Hypertherm powermax 85 plasma source, fangling controller and fangling THC. I have been trying few art works on my table for the past few days and having few problems and would like to get suggestions
Problem 1: Trying to cut 2 mm thick mild steel sheet with 45 Amps power and fine cut nozzle. I am getting pin type puncture holes at lead in/lead out point. I am using sheetcam software and set lead in as arc and lead out as none.
Problem 2: some times torch is moving up slightly/not following the sheet profile and arc voltage is getting increased than set voltage which is damaging the workpiece. Most of the times I noticed this behaviour when sheet is having curve and torch is cutting down the curve.I am using THC in auto mode.
Could I please get any advice on these problems? Thank you in advance..

Alright have you tested the THC with the metal thickness and amp setting with the speed you set. There are few things to realize first is the THC only comes into control after the torch has pierced and has move a small amount (allow arc to stabilize). Lead in have not effect on the cutting operation as it is only to have the pierce point not on the cut path. The arc voltage is a result of the arc length, cutting 2mm you should have a voltage set about 82 and 5250 MM/Min for fine cut. These voltage may be different with your THC this is why you should run tests to see what is the correct voltage. Here is a video about how to check you system setting.
