HTP 875SC CUTTER NOT CUTTING ALL WAY THROUGH ! HELP...

I have a new 4x8 table with a HTP 875sc cutter. I cut alot of wall art mostly. The first 3/4 sheet cut like butter! very smooth edges,not much Dos on back at all..14 gauge steel,280 ipm, at 70 PSI air, average 40 degrees in shop. But wouldnt cut through all way..checked my Consumables,and they were shot. The tips were 70 amp ..and my replacements are 45 amp..after changing electrode,and tips, It has never cut good at all..And never releasing the Cut from the sheet of steel,due too ,it not cutting all way through in some places.. I cut speed all way down to 150 ipm, and lowered Torch Height down a bit.as you can see in pic.it looked to high. Still cuts like crap,and not all way through.. The only thing different,I did was put in 45 amp Consumables,in place of 70 amp Consumables.. Would that make it mess up? I run Cutter all way up too 45 amps. never changed that. I just put in a new set of Consumables , yesterday.and cut 3 small quick items..and consumables are junk..I do have a 3 stage air/water filter,,,with the little Purple balls.I always open bottom of compressor,and down drips,and 3 stage to drain any moisture. I was told all my problems is moisture..why cant I get any moisture out of anything.?? not even on table ,when I do dry run..About to buy an new torch..different Consumables. that are cheaper in price. This is costing too much in Consumables..and it didnt start out this way at first..thanks

First pic with 3 tips...one on right is the 70 amp..other 2 are new 45 amp..the 70 amp cut 3/4 sheet perfect. other 2 only cut for a few minutes.

The only time my HT 45XP doesn't cut through at book speed is when my consumables are past their life span which is thousands of inches of cut.

I tend to get alot of dross when I run my water level to high. Still doesn't explain the consumables burning up so quickly, but I haven't owned anything other than HT so I couldn't comment on HTP.

I would do the standard straight line cuts at different speeds for cut quality. Never know how much things change (or something operator screwed up and didn't realize) when changing consumables and Amps. Better to waste a drop than 1/4 of a sheet on a product. Good Luck

Incorrect pierce hight will wreck consumables in a hurry.

Ok..thanks..Ill try and drop my Height on torch..and see what that does...was cutting perfect. and didnt change anything but Consumables.from 70amp to 45 amp..

check your ground clamp [ok v+ as the torch is v-].... but check you clamp to the workpiece as that can give poor penetration if your workpiece is not adequatly clamped [I was just cutting some coated / painted control panel fascias]

Wish I could.but just got this one with my table..used 2 months... I think I found out what the problem was.....I had a 3 stage Moisture ,and one had the little Purple Balls that turn pink,when I need to change..it was still Purple..but when I by passed this 3 stage system..I got my air volume back..!! I only made one cut yesterday ,and it cut fast and complete! makes since now..going to by Harbor Freight Dry air system.I just put all new Consumables ,Body Cup ,air swirl,and electrode ,and tip on this ,thinking one of them was bad..so guess its was the 3 stage system killed my air volume. thanks Jim.

Well..mine was the 3 stage moisture traps ..were not letting enough air go through them..but gauges..should right amount of pressure..just not the right volume...so try running air hose straight from you compressor,to your cutter.and try to make a simple cut..and see if it cuts good..mine did.. let me know.thanks

I returned the whole table and cutter! Too many problems electrically..on machine...I now have an New 4x8 GoFabcnc table...Love it.Cuts up to 1 inch.Cutter has 5 year warranty.really built great.And works off Tablet..which is really handy to see where Im at on table to start new cut,and get close to last cut..and for total of $7900.00 Delivered, it great..works off tablet..Great to walk up to metal ,and put cutter where I need it..

I cant believe how long my Consumables last.. I was getting 4 sheets out of same one... But I have also put money into dry air. So Jim Colt is right..... HYPERTHERM ALL THE WAY....
