tool pathing software suggestions?

Post by steelcnccutter »

hello as a broad question just wanted to know what most of everyone is useing to vectorize, draw, scale, torch offset for male and female cuts, nest and even post process a file for cutting. I have been cutting for about 8 or 10 years for business and hobby and current software does not meet needs. I have found out that the exporting of circles and arcs seam to always be just line segments in the output. after calling to see if there was a fix they informed me that it just will not export in a arc or circles just many segment lines . the less segments the less lines of code generated and well every one knows less is better and smoother . guess i have not kept up and i would like to stay up and be able to use some very useful features of my machine. thanks for any imput

I have been using WE-CIM software for three years and it will do all that you are looking for. And them some. Call Gary Wittlock at 256-737-3075. He is owner of Wittkock Engineering, developer of the software.

I use CorelDraw to draw, vectorize, scale etc. with and Sheetcam for nesting, positioning and generating Gcode. Mach3 for table control. Works for me.

Look into "Design Edge". It is CAD, drawing, vectorizing and creates tool paths with lead-ins and offsets. It exports dxf and gcode. Call them at 1-719-676-2700

Last I heard it was two grand. This is the latest offering from Plasmacam. Yhey raised the price of their machines by the same amount and are shipping the new software with it (at least that is what the rumors are).
