Spray Bottles for patinas

Post by jdh239 »

I purchased the sample kit from Steel-FX, and plan on trying it out, but first need some pressurized spray bottles. I was wondering what brands some of you may have tried, and if you like them or not. I find the ones on Steel-FX very expensive (especially when I plan on picking up 8 or so of them), so I need to go a cheaper route. I don't want to go too cheap though and regret it.

I am quite sure you can use regular spray bottles.. i have not yet bought Bill's patinas (but I plan on it) but I use regular old plant sprayers (the $3 kind) and have never ever had a problem.

After reading Bills site it would appear the higher powered sprayer may be required for the Copper FX (it says 'highly recommended for Copper FX'). I have the full set of samples (yet to try them out) and they all include a free pump sprayer on the container. If this works then I'll be using some $3 containers, but I suspect Copper FX will need a better sprayer.

I purchased some sprayers from canadian tire they have a selectable spray nozzle from drip to fine mist and they have a high volume trigger (3.4ml) per pump and seem to work excellent I made some dip pans and put just enough to lay the piece in there for a sec and that also seems to work well .

I used the sprayers with the bottles that came in the sample kit. They work fine. I did have to cut about an inch off the tubes to fit the bottles though. Simple enough.
