Problem, please help

Hi

I'm new to plasma CNC. Previous employee just up and left so I've been thrown in the deepens. Everything has been going well, been cutting mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel in various thicknesses.

Suddenly yeaterday mid-cut the plasma head started lifting away from the cutting surface, still arcing but about an inch above surface.

Went through process of replacing electrode, tip and swirl ring. Cleaning sensors and water traps. Shut down system and restarted everything. Tried different cut files and different metals.

Torch pierces metal and then lifts one inch away from surface over the next 2 inches of cut.

Using:
Hypertherm Powermax 105
FangLing F2100B
HYD XPTHC-100 III

I know it isn't great equipment, but it is what we've got.

You do have the plasma return cable connected to the material?

Sounds like a torch height control issue. Could be several things causing it. Check to make sure that the return cable is hooked up. Check to see that the cable that attaches to the torch shield is hooked up check the voltages on your control software, it might just be set wrong. I would start there and if those things don't fix the issue either check with the manufacturer or try back here. Either way please let us know! Best of luck.
