TurboCAD not Loading

Post by HatchMan »

Hey there...
I just thought I would see if anyone else has seen this problem, I had TurboCAD 17 on my PC running fine (I use it often to generate cut files for CNC plasma),
Anyway, I went to open it and it just sat there and hung loading, I thought maybe an update would help, so I updated to 17.1 then 17.2 and it still hangs, I did notice that it looks like the thing that is hanging in the Internet pallet, I can see at the bottom of the screen it franticly trying to load something, this seems to just hang the application to the point it will not load.
I tried uninstalling the application and re-installing it, when I did I was able to load TurboCAD just fine, but after I closed the app and tried to re-launch it, I got the same problem, hangs while loading.
So I un-installed it again and re-installed it and it launched it again, and again it launched fine, so I set the internet pallet to load a blank page thinking that would solve the problem, but it did the same thing after I shut the app down and restarted it?
I can?t seem to find any help on this issue, I was hoping that there may be some way to disable the internet pallet all together, but I can?t seem to find out how to.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

You might try: clear browser cache, run disc-cleanup to eliminate temp files, delete all files in windows/prefetch folder, then reboot, using administrator privelages, momentarily disable anti-virus, and see if that does any good, and or disconnect the internet and try it. And possibly just wait 45 seconds to a minute or so to see if it times out and goes away (that actually worked for me a few days ago). I haven't used turbocad, those are just a few things I try when all else fails. I hate when that happens.

Or some programs create restore points during install, it might be possible to go back to a previous restore point, but that seems risky to me (if you have no backups), I don't ever use restore points myself.

good luck....

OK... I tried all of that last night, and it still is hanging on load... WOW is this frustrating....
I may have to "Nuke and Pave" (Format the drive and reload OS and all applications)
I hope not as it always takes forever...

Thanks for the ideas...

"nuke and pave" that's funny, I put a hot swap drive bay on all my computers and I keep the OS on a small dedicated partition, so it only takes a few minutes to backup prior to any software changes. At least on the bright side your computer might work a little better if it hasn't been 'paved' in awhile.... It never works too well for me, but reinstalling windows (usually) keeps all software intact, and corrects some (but not most) problems like that. I know it takes all day (and then some) to do all that, I feel for ya....
