Water table to downdraft conversion

A new topic it's not but haven't found what I am curious about. I saw where Jim Colt runs 3 8" ducts out of his table and works great. I have a 2x4 water table I am thinking a 12" louvered fan connected to a 6" duct from the center of table would do it. Otherwise I could go to a 1200 cfm 16" fan with a larger duct say 8 to 10" or maybe 2-6" ducts. Any advice would be helpful.

Will do soon, ended going with 12" louvered fan and 12" duct. Working great so far.. Need to reduce pic file sizes so send on asap. Fan was $120 at MENARDS and with 12" sheet metal elbow etc ended up less than $200 for conversion.

I ended up adding some water trays around the exhaust port of the table and probably three-quarters of the surface area is covered with the water trays it does help with picking up any additional smoke. Thankfully the room is nearly clear of smoke so it is working very well. Used smaller plastic trays to make it easy to change out the water trays when they got pretty contaminated. The biggest thing I found initially with the water table was changing out the water when it got really bad full of material and such. Pretty Dirty Job. I probably should have made the water bed more shallow mine is about 5 inches deep. Hope that helps
