If you have powdercoat capabilities, do you still use paint/clear? If so, why?

Title sums it up. For those of you who use powder regularly (in house, outsource, whatever), I'm curious if you still use paint (or spray clear). If so, under what circumstances?

I don't have my own powdercoating setup, so cost versus complexity is key. If the customer just wants basic black or for outdoor signs, I'll powdercoat. I have yet to see a good clear powdercoat job over shiny metal, so that's a big factor as well.

So something like the tattered flag (with burnished or flap wheeled finish) with translucent color, you would apply a paint clear, vs a powder clear?

Like Capstone said. I have never seen a clear coat power that could give me the depth and shine I want. I use a 2 part automotive clear and it makes my flags POP!

Can't go wrong with the Sharp FX1000, I have been using one for a couple of years now. Order the 3M PPS adapter PN: 289520 and use the use the disposable cups and filter lids. Makes clean up simple and fast and uses very little thinner. Turn gun upside down and hit the trigger and you will draw all the air out of the disposal liner. After that you can paint at any angle, even upside down without the gun spitting. You'll love it.
