Made a few pieces for someone. Used the anodized spray paint and clear coat over it. Dries to handle in 1 hour. Let it sit somewhere around 4 hours if not more. Put some tissue paper between each layer and put them in an envelope. Wife delivered them the next day and wrapped them in bubble wrap so they didn't scratch. She this about 12-15 hours later. Lady looks at them and likes them, takes them home. 2 days later she is complaining about bubble wrap imprints. She tried water and a soft towel and they are still there. She is returning them.
1) Anyone have any good ideas on how to remove them without having to repaint it? It's multi colored so I am trying to avoid that.
2) How do you guys deal with these situations? Normally I'm all sales are final but since the wife works with her I'm going to try and fix it.

Hmmm I will have to see what type of clear coat. Nothing satin or gloss I don't believe
From base to clear at least 24 hours

Re: how to remove bubble wrap imprints?
Sand the clear coat with 400/600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and recoat. The imprints should be gone.
I have had the same thing happen but before I sold the pieces. I don't bubble wrap until at least a week goes by.

Sand it dry?
By hand or on a DA?
It's a dupli color 2x gloss clear coat
What do you guys normall pack them in? Typically I ship 1 piece at a time so they just go in an envelope
Guess I won't bubble wrap going forward

I dry sand by hand but you could wet sand. You want to remove enough surface to remove the imprints.
I haven't shipped much, mostly local but I pack between two pieces of that white board that has foam in the middle. I use bubble wrap to transport in tubs to shows but now I just make sure the pieces have had lots of time to dry.

Re: how to remove bubble wrap imprints?
I have done that same TRICK ! I had a little luck, the imprints were not too deep into the top coat and not into the dye coat. SO... applied new Top Coats ( 2 ) and filled in those spots. It worked that time and now I let the work set for about 4 days before wrapping.

Re: how to remove bubble wrap imprints?
Hey Gamble,
I mean the top coat. The imprints were in the top coat only. My big problem is applying the first top coat over Dye's. Most of my stuff, are brushed on. Sometimes I get a little dye under the tape into areas that I want to stay just steel. I don't always see it till after first Top coat. Take craft knife ( just lite pressure to remove ), then reapply top coat's.
Note: A Lady that's been doing Crafts ( a lot items with clear top coat ) used a trick called Finger Nail Test. To check, push her finger nail to top coat and if it leaves a mark - give it more time to harden.
Hope you can fix it without a total rework.
