Z-axis motor fault

Post by Agetime56 »

Have candcnc electronics, system works great but at random points in a cut the torch will finish a cut move to next cut and start down make a weird motor sound and touch metal, move up make the weird motor sound and then not fire and stop.
It does at that point show a z-axis motor fault on box.
Reset the box it will work again for some time period. Then same issue again.

Have changed the following:
Motor
Gecko driver card
Z-axis slider
Adjusted plasma cutter cable
Consumables
Checked for any binding.

Talked with Tom and Luke at candcnc which led to some of the changes.

Can this be a comm error with computer?
Or what?

Thanks
Tom Hamilton

Fixed z-axis was set to fast. Tuned it down after taking with Tom at candcnc.
