Your price for this? - Fall Festival

Post by Capstone »

I'm on revision 2 of this design for a custom "picture frame" from a repeat customer.

Two layers, well really three with the white backer, plus brackets to attach the sign up to 2x4's.

it's 33x30. rattle can finish.

What would you charge?

If I cut that and assembled it from 10 ga PO. I would shoot from the hip at $650-700 maybe a little more because I hate doing layered signs because of the welding and grinding involved. I would powdercoat it just because I can.

Don't have a final price but just a few things to consider.

Needed a bit of practice so I had a play to see how much steel it would take. If I've done everything right the bounding rectangle is only about $55 worth of steel, working on 11 ga, so a bit cheaper if you go thinner. Plus IF you've got some other parts you can cut in the large waste areas that's bringing the steel price down even more. The image is your drawing parts to scale on a 4 x 8 sheet.

I'd guess you could use 3M adhesive tape for sticking the orange bits on top, so should make assembly pretty quick. I'd say most of your time/cost is in the design work.

You might want to check your cuts on the fine lettering. Based on a 1.3mm kerf width for finecut nozzles, the kerfs were running over each other in a few places.

Thanks for everyones input. Weight is a big issue because it's going to be moved around, albeit on a wooden stand of some kind, but I don't want it falling over as people move around it for the pictures. So I'll be cutting this from 14G metal. I just restocked on 3M tape in a variety of widths, so I will be using generous amounts to hold the pumpkins and white back ground on to the black layer. Beefy, I've already cut the bottom part using 30amp consumables and it turned out good, but thanks for looking out.

I am waiting on the school's committee to approve the design/order. If they don't order it, I'll upload the file minus the school logo and maybe someone can make good use of it for Halloween at say a pumpkin patch or hay-ride location.
