Can someone please explain to me how to fix this file.
1. I can not get "DPS" moved up so I can weld or trim which ever I am suppose to do?
2. "STATE TROOPER" the letters run together.
Any help will be appericated especially a explanition of the process I am trying to accomplish.
Thanks, Dawg

Re: X5 Help Please
zoom in on DPS
with the pick tool click on the letters, selects compound object
click on DPS again, selects artistic text object, with small red handle on lower left
that's click twice, not double click
drag the handle outward
do the same to STATE TROOPER. then with that selcted
find the text properties docker (X6 shown, X5 is different)
enter about 30% in the character spacing input
then use the pick tool to drag a window around all the little hollow squares on the letters in trooper
then drag those letters away from STATE (or enter 200 or 300% in the word spacing input)
then you can use those handles to fine tune the spacing between all the letters

Hi Gary, got the first part done but you can see what happened when I changed character spacing to 30%.
Also do I draw a box around ALL the hollow squares at once? When I do and release the mouse button all the squares dissapear.
Thanks, Jim

Re: X5 Help Please
Fantastic Gary, thanks for taking the time to do that.
Being a novice I find all your contributions most helpful. I had planned to go back over your previous reply here and work through it as there was a couple of bits I was struggling to get my head around but now I totally understand what you were explaining.
Thanks heaps
Murray

Gary, great video. It has been a big help for me. One question?? I noticed in the video when you moved a letter all the letters to the right move also. When I do this only the letter I pick is moving?
Thanks, Jim

Re: X5 Help Please
I drug a selection window around several handles, to move them all at once, then after adjusting the leftmost letter, I'd shift click on the leftmost handle to remove that letter from the selction in order to move the remaining selection some more,
That comes out a little easier than moving them one at a time because it preserves existing letter spacing to the right of whichever letter I'm adjusting.

Great teaching video SignTorch!
I would have just moved the letters in place to weld without all of the detail.
Thanks
