TOP DROSS WHEN ROUNDING CORNERS

Post by plasmanewbie »

Last night I was cutting large panels from 16 guage steel that required many 2" holes. Every circle had an excessive amount of top dross in the exact same spot on each circle. What would cause this on every hole???? It's consistantly crappy!!

This is typically caused by a worn tip in your plasma torch. If you look at the tip you will likely notice the hole is no longer round, but rather "burned" out on one side. Inspect and change the tip if need be. Also be sure your air is clean and dry, your pressure is set properly, and that you are not running too much amperage for the tip you are using. Hope this helps.
